Kennedy Welding was contracted to weld Head Stock Plates for new bridge structures for Queensland Rail. With a $28 million investment from the Queensland Government, 18 bridges were upgraded across the West Moreton Rail Network from Ipswich to Chinchilla. The changes were made to improve the safety and reliability of the bridges.
To complete this job, we sent out a 5 man mobile welding team operating full time for several weeks with the work completed inline with AS1554.1-2014. The total project was over several months. All work required our qualified boilermakers to pass weld tests, to sit and pass medicals and inductions to receive a Rail Industry Worker Pass (RWC).
The rail system runs over 314 kilometres and links rail services from Brisbane to the West of Queensland via the Darling Downs. With a local Queensland company awarded the contract, they contacted us to help them with the job.
